"Jewish Costumes in the Ottoman Empire, a collection of illustrations depicting traditional Jewish attire in the Ottoman Empire in the 16th to the 19th centuries, will open February 8, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. with An opening reception and educational panel at the Mizel Museum, 400 South Kearney Street, Denver.
Based on old postcards of Ottoman Jewish clothing, artists created the exhibition of 60 lithographs, paintings and illustrations. These paintings have been brought to the United States with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and is traveling throughout the country as part of a year long program dedicated to highlighting the history, culture and traditions of two peoples who have lived together in friendship for centuries: The Jews in Turkey: Living in Harmony Throughout the Ages."
